App Terms of Service

Terms for DockLog apps

Covers iOS, Android, Linux, Windows, and other native builds. Same rules whether you grabbed it from a store or installed a package yourself.

Details

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using any DockLog native application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our App Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the apps.

2. Description of Service

The apps connect to a DockLog server you already run. Depending on your setup, that means log streaming, host metrics, and container actions your account is allowed to perform.

They don't replace the server. You still need a running DockLog instance and network access to it from your phone, tablet, or desktop.

3. Accounts & Access

Authentication is handled by your DockLog server. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account on connected servers.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use any DockLog app to:

  • Access DockLog servers or infrastructure you do not own or have explicit permission to use
  • Circumvent RBAC, authentication, or security controls on a DockLog deployment
  • Interfere with or disrupt connected servers, networks, or other users' access
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where permitted by law
  • Use the apps in violation of applicable laws, regulations, or your organization's policies

5. Server Connectivity & Availability

The apps require a network connection to your DockLog server. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of any app or compatibility with every server configuration, reverse proxy setup, or TLS certificate chain.

You are solely responsible for the URL, port, HTTPS configuration, and firewall rules that allow your device to reach your DockLog instance.

6. Security Responsibilities

Connecting a device to a DockLog server may expose sensitive operational data, including live application logs and container controls. You acknowledge that:

  • Your DockLog server may have privileged access to the Docker engine on the host
  • Exposing the server publicly without proper safeguards creates security risk
  • You are responsible for HTTPS, access controls, credential rotation, and RBAC configuration
  • Lost or compromised devices with saved sessions may allow unauthorized access to your server

7. Intellectual Property

DockLog native apps, including their design, branding, and underlying software, are owned by the DockLog project and its contributors. The apps are distributed under open-source licensing terms where applicable. You may not use DockLog trademarks or branding in a way that implies endorsement without permission.

For terms governing the self-hosted DockLog server software, see our website terms of service.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APPS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APPS WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DockLog and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, downtime, unauthorized access, or damages arising from your use of the apps to connect to self-hosted infrastructure — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Distribution Platform Terms

If you obtained an app through a third-party distribution channel — such as the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, a Linux package repository, or another platform marketplace — your use may also be subject to that channel's terms and policies. In the event of a conflict between platform terms and these Terms of Service regarding the platform's role as distributor, the platform's terms may apply to that extent.

11. Termination

You may stop using the apps at any time by uninstalling them and revoking saved credentials. We may suspend or discontinue any DockLog app or restrict access if you violate these terms or if required for legal or security reasons.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms as the apps evolve across platforms. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of any DockLog app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Contact

For questions about these app terms, open an issue on the DockLog GitHub repository or contact the project maintainers. Learn more about upcoming platforms at /app.
